A downloadable game for Windows

Unorthodox Rules is an in-development psychological deduction adventure about reading people, bending rules, and finding a way out of an unfair game.

This early Windows demo contains Chapter 1 and focuses on investigation, character interactions, card-based deduction, puzzle solving, and a strategic Rock-Paper-Scissors-style battle of wits.

Inspired by games such as Ace Attorney and Danganronpa, as well as stories like Liar Game, the game is built around logic battles, bluffing, contradictions, hidden motives, and dramatic turnabouts.

The project is still in development, so feedback is very welcome. I’d especially love to hear your thoughts on:

  • Whether the deduction flow is clear
  • Whether the dialogue and characters are engaging
  • Whether the puzzles feel fair
  • Any bugs, confusing moments, or pacing issues

Install instructions

Download the ZIP file, then extract it before running the game.

Open the extracted folder and run "Unorthodox Rules.exe".

Please keep the .exe and .pck files in the same folder. The game may not launch if you move or delete the .pck file.

If Windows shows a security warning, click "More info" and then "Run anyway". This happens because this early demo is not code-signed yet.

Hi! I’m the solo developer of Unorthodox Rules.

This demo is still being improved, and I’d really appreciate any feedback—especially about:

• Was the deduction system easy to understand? • Did any part feel confusing or too slow? • Which character or scene stood out to you? • Did you encounter any bugs?
